What Is National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)?

The congress government has started the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to support the natural disaster program under the aegis of The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) was set up by the Congress to increasing cost in disaster relief operation for flood-affected people. The FEMA can look after the NFIP. It also operates Write Your Own (WYO) Program to the private insurance company to provide the flood insurance to the individual party. The National Flood Insurance Program (NFPI) gets the complete power to give the services to the private companies. It also monitors the auditor reports too.

The local area groups are eligible to apply under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFPI) to get the flood coverage. The FEMA gives special coverage under the Flood Zone. When natural calamities occur, the FEMA gives the flood insurance coverage under the emergency coverage. The FEMA decides the proposed risk and the needs for the development under the FEMA program. The ole of FEMA is to get the study of the food prone region and estimate the probable risk. Based on the area, the FEMA decides the risk and gives coverage under the regular programs. FEMA provides flood level, and risk zones. FEMA has given time to local bodies to takeover flood level in area and building code regulation to meet the needs. The National Flood Insurance Program has greater role to play with FEMA to manage the flood program.
